    Shop Expansion & Visitor Experience

The current shop has become overcrowded during peak seasons, limiting both visitor comfort and ministry income. A redesigned and expanded shop will improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, introduce new Garden Tomb products, and create a more welcoming experience for guests from around the world.

  • The Director shares

“I often say that the Garden is the gospel in words, and the shop is the gospel in action. The shop is central to our ministry in the Garden as a living expression of the gospel in action. Many of the products we sell are made by disadvantaged local Christian groups, and when visitors purchase these items, they are directly helping to support these individuals and their families. Around 20–30% of our products are linked to supporting others in this way – reflecting the shop’s strong ethical and Christian values.

Through every purchase, visitors become part of a ministry that cares for people in practical, meaningful ways. However, the income generated through the shop is continually reinvested into the ministry, helping to secure the future vision of the Garden. As there is no entrance fee for visitors, purchasing from the shop is also a valuable way for people to support the ongoing work and mission of the Garden, both now and for future generations.”

  • Terebinth and Staff Room

This project involves upgrading the Terebinth area and staff room by creating a covered, enclosed space. The area will be fitted with a terracotta roof, with sides enclosed using wood up to 110 cm height, and windows installed above. The aim is to establish a comfortable all weather, internal meeting area, designed to align aesthetically with the other meeting areas around the Garden , ensuring consistency in style across the site. Additionally, a small room will be created for staff use, providing a quiet space. Its location between the Terebinth area and the staff room makes it an ideal addition to be completed as part of this project.
